Alaska Fly Fishing 2017
An amazing opportunity for VetEx vets to fly fish in remote Alaska for over a week. This has been our 4th of July expedition for several years now. The 2017 expedition is our 5th annual trip working with Mark Rutherford and Wild River Guides. This expedition floats over 100 river miles on the Kanektok River from its alpine headwaters to the Bering Sea. Veterans have a rare opportunity to catch world class rainbow trout and several species of salmon as well as arctic char and grayling. Flying in a float plane, landing on a lake in the middle of nowhere, pumping up rafts and exploring a vast, untouched wilderness–largely alone– is an amazing experience that few people in the world get to enjoy. This trip is kept to a group of 8 vets each year and run by Wild River Guides at a cost of $25,000 for VetEx. It is important to note that the cost of this trip is twice VetEx’s investment. The remaining $25,000 is funded by Mark Rutherford through several donors loyal to getting veterans of all ages and abilities fly fishing.
