9/11/11 Summit Attempt of the Grand Teton

Dear Team,

Are you ready for a challenge? We are very excited to announce that we are in fact going to the Grand Teton for a 9/11/11 Summit Attempt of the Grand Teton. We believe there will be room for a total of nine veterans on this trip, though we are working out final costs. While we will cover the bulk of the cost, you will need to help yourself get to the top of the mountain!

We will spend four days in a summit attempt with the help of some of the best mountain guides in the world, that we will cover. However, training costs and getting to Jackson is a work in progress. At this point, we will be able to get a van, but we’ll all need to pitch in if we leave from Denver!

However, before we get to that, we need to make sure we have a team together! Here’s a letter from field director Nick Watson, about the training required. If you have any questions, post here, or get in touch with Nick at nick@vetexpeditions.com

Dear Veterans and currently serving members of the Greatest Armed Forces in the World!
We hope you had a Happy Memorial Day.  I am happy to announce our summer training schedule for Grand Teton on September 11th 2011.  I am getting the schedule out now so folks can save the dates while Stacy Bare and myself work out fundraising and final costs for the 3 trainings plus the expedition.  The 3 trainings are long difficult days spent high in the mountains.  The dates, general information, and the cost of these trips are listed in the attached memo.  We are working hard to find a sponsor for these trainings.
We will keep you all informed.  There will likely be a fee associated with each training and the expedition to Grand Teton.  We are working hard to make this fee as minimal as possible.  There will also be a fundraising requirement for these trips as well.
Please email me your questions.  Information to come will include a gear list, trip itineraries, link up locations, etc.  I have some gear deals and other news to pass on to Vet Ex participants as well.  These trips will challenge you physically and mentally.  For some, these are once in a lifetime type trips.  Trips that can change ones perception.  So dust off the boots.  I challenge you all this memorial day to get that swagger back.  Get back in shape and outside with other vets.  Adopt a healthier lifestyle, stop the discouraging veteran statistics, and help us all STOP 18 veterans who choose to take their own lives every day.
Please pass this info on to veterans who may be interested.  There will be more trips announced soon so keep posted for beginner mountain bike trips, day hiking trips, and details about the mountain bike team.
