Candice's Story

Candice grew up in Alaska and Colorado. Candice was commissioned a United States Marine Corps officer in 2006 and earned her Naval Flight Officer wings in 2008. She served as a F/A-18 Weapons Systems Officer with VMFA(AW)-225 from 2010-2013, completing two deployments to Japan with the Unit Deployment Program. In 2013, Candice served as the Marine Detachment Officer-in-Charge and Instructor Training Officer at Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School (SERE) – East. In 2017, Candice completed the Civil Affairs Officer Course, transitioned to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR), and joined 2nd Civil Affairs Group (CAG), Washington DC as an Assistant Detachment Commander. In 2019, Candice assisted in the transition from 2nd CAG to Marine Corps Advisor Company - A (MCAC-A) departing to join 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. At 6th ANGLICO, she has served as FCT Lead, Brigade Platoon Air Officer, Brigade Platoon Commander, and currently as the Operations Officer/JTAC Evaluator.  

 

Upon departing active duty, Candice attended Wake Forest School of Medicine, earning a Master of Medical Science – PA Studies in 2017. In 2019, Candice was selected for the 18-month Mayo Clinic Emergency Medicine PA Fellowship. During her fellowship, Candice worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic which further highlighted incredible disparities in the healthcare system. In hopes of creating appreciable change in the delivery of healthcare in the US, Candice is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and serving her community as an Emergency Medicine PA at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.
