Scott's Story

After graduating high school in New Hampshire, Scott enlisted in the US Army as an Intelligence Soldier and served two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his time in the military, Scott received a B.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University and returned home to New Hampshire. After a winter hut trip in the White Mountains, he began to realize that the outdoors would be instrumental in overcoming the challenges associated with life after the military. He's been hooked on outdoor adventure sports ever since and moved to Colorado to continue pursuing an outdoor career. His first trip with VetEx was in 2014 and eventually, he began leading trips. For him, the community developed through trips is the heart of VetEx. Scott currently lives in Eagle, CO, and is the Program Director at Garfield County Outdoors introducing outdoor recreation to youth in the community. Scott can often be found in the mountains in winter, snowboarding, splitboarding, and ice climbing as well as chasing the snowmelt in summers, paddling the many canyons and rivers of the West.
