For the last ten years, Veterans Expeditions (VetEx) has worked to get military veterans from all eras into the outdoors on adventures and expeditions in order to create positive, supportive community among our veterans. We’re unique in that our organization was founded by veterans and every trip is led by veterans.
We’re based in Salida, and this will be our first local fundraising event. However, we’ve worked locally for several years, leading vets through the Browns Canyon National Monument and climbing nearby 14,000 foot peaks. These are some of our most popular trips and we run several each year.
Our event on November 3 will include a presentation by retired US Navy Veteran and former NASA Astronaut Dominic Gorie, as well as the premiere of a short film created by Nathan Ward on a VetEx trip to Alaska, dinner, a silent auction and cash bar.
We are offering a limited number of VIP tables at our event for $1,000 donation per table. The tables seat eight people, except for one special table which seats six along with Dominic and his wife Wendy. The VIP tables will be situated closest to the speaker and also include a private 30 minute meet and greet with the astronaut himself. We will have tables for $500 and individual tickets for $40. You can buy tables through Veterans Expeditions or the Salida Community Center. Individual tickets are being sold at Salida Mountain Sports. The donation is tax deductible as VetEx is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. All donations raised at this event will be spent on local trips getting our military veterans outside and building community.
