A few weeks ago, Vet Ex had the opportunity to partner with Paradox Sports and Sierra Club for an awesome ice climbing event in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

Nick Watson, co-founder of Vet Ex, climbs ice for the first time.

There was an excellent mix of folks including disabled athletes, veterans with varied service histories including Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, active duty instructors at West Point and civilian athletes and guides.

Stacy Bare, VetEx co-founder getting it done on New Hampshire ice.

Despite freezing temps, everyone from seasoned climbers to first timers successfully tackled walls of ice. For more detail, check out this blog from Chris  Kassar at:  http://www.elevationoutdoors.com/blogs/whats-your-excuse/.

Thanks to Timmy ONeill, co-founder of Paradox Sports and pro-climber, for making everything run smoothly on the ground. And thanks to DJ Skelton – the veteran co-founder of Paradox – who is wounded, but still serves as a captain in the Army.  He’s an inspiration to all of our vets. And lastly, thanks to the Chefs Market – who filled our bellies with a gourmet breakfast each morning that kept us going.

We see partnerships and events like this as an important way of gettng veterans outside and we look forward to participating in this event for years to come.
