Backcountry Skiing at Mount Baker (Intermediate)

Heather Meadows, adjacent to the Mt. Baker Ski Area, offers numerous backcountry skiing/splitboarding opportunities accessible from the Heather Meadows parking lot. We’ll be looking to tour in the areas of Table Mountain, Herman's Saddle, and Swift Creek. Terrain decisions will be made by trip leaders based on snow and avalanche conditions and overall comfort of the group.

A good level of fitness is needed to successfully reach the camp. Participants will be expected to provide their own gear for this trip. This includes an alpine touring ski setup or splitboard, crampons for ski boots and/or skis, ice axe/whippet, avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel.

Requirements: Participants are required to have completed avalanche safety training (AIARE I or similar) and have prior experience backcountry touring.
