About the event
Join Veteran's Expeditions for an ice climbing trip on Mount Baker at the Lower Coleman Glacier seracs! It's not too often that you can go ice climbing in late summer, but the lower Coleman Glacier seracs make that possible.
This trip will be an overnight to maximize our time spent on the ice, and covers about 6 miles with 2,000 feet of elevation gain to get to the glacier.
Beginner Requirements: Anyone can join this trip, but it is strongly recommended that participants have a familiarity with belaying and climbing in a gym. All ice climbing will be setup with a top rope system and walk-out access for maximum safety. Participants will be required to bring their own mountaineering boots (you can rent if you don't own), appropriate outdoor clothing, food and water, overnight gear, and the other essential outdoors equipment (10 Essentials). We do have a small gear closet available to loan out some items, so if you need something, let the leader know in advance.
Have any questions? Email the trip leader at natebrown@vetexpeditions.com
You must complete the VetEx Waiver prior to attending. One ticket per person. DO NOT sign up another individual.
We do not refund tickets 2 weeks from the event or less.
This trip is sponsored by the KAJ Fountaion. "We created the KAJ Foundation in loving memory of our son, Kyle, who passed away in a climbing accident in Germany in March 2022.
Kyle was an avid and accomplished athlete and was always ready for the next adventure. From soccer, cycling, mountain biking, competing in triathlons, surfing and climbing there was always another adventure on Kyle’s horizon. Not only was Kyle an accomplished athlete, Kyle was also an amazing son, brother, partner and friend to so many. Kyle brought joy to so many people with his beautiful smile and infectious sense of humor.
One of Kyle’s life goals was to work with veterans which attracted us to Veterans Expeditions. While our lives will never be the same, we are thrilled to be partnering with Veterans Expeditions to achieve Kyle’s life goal of helping others while creating a lasting legacy that will keep Kyle’s bright light shining.
