About the event
Join us on a camping and backcountry skiing trip in this unique desert skiing paradise! Individuals must be comfortable skiing double black diamond runs at a ski resort, be comfortable climbing 40 degree snow with crampons and ice axe, must have their own ski touring gear/splitboard gear, avalanche safety equipment, and be able to skin and climb 4,000 vertical feet multiple days in a row. This is an advanced level trip. We will camp lower down on the La Sal Mountain Loop Road where temps are warmer and drive a short distance each morning to the trailhead. Saturday will be a warm up tour (condition dependent) on Mt. Tukuhnikivatz with a bigger objective on Sunday deeper into the backcountry of the La Sals.
Requirements: Participants are required to have completed avalanche safety training (AIARE I or similar) and have prior experience backcountry touring.
